Children’s Bath Towel Buyer’s Guide
Getting kids to enjoy their bath time is a lot easier with the right towel! There’s a huge range of kids’ bath towels on the market in fun designs and a variety of sizes to suit any child. Not sure what to look for? Take a look at this buyer’s guide.
Size
Bath towels for kids come in a range of sizes to suit different ages. Standard bath towels usually measure 140 x 70cm or smaller, while hooded towels will be the right size for various age ranges. Towels for babies usually measure 70 x 70cm.
The most versatile hooded towels will fit children aged between 5 – 14, while smaller towels are suitable for kids aged 1 – 4. It’s not a problem if the towel is a little too large, so it’s always advisable to size up instead of potentially purchasing something too small.
Design
Children’s bath towels come in a huge range of designs to suit boys and girls of all ages. The first choice you’ll need to make is whether to purchase a standard or a hooded towel. Standard rectangular or square towels are simple and versatile. They’re easy to hang out to dry, can be folded away for storage, and can be taken to the beach or swimming pool.
Hooded towels are becoming increasingly popular for kids. After bath time, your child will be able to wear their towel around the house while they dry. These are cosy and warm, often made from extra soft fabric.
Towels are also available with a range of patterns to suit your child. Hooded towels may be animal themed, while others will just come in block colours. It shouldn’t be hard to find a towel your child will love.
Material
Most towels for kids are made from cotton, polyester or bamboo. Almost all towels will contain mostly cotton, with a small amount of either bamboo or polyester.
100% cotton towels are best for kids with sensitive skin. They are extra soft, absorbent and, of course, slightly more expensive. Pure cotton isn’t quite as durable as towels containing polyester or bamboo.
Bamboo and cotton blends maintain their softness brilliantly, and bamboo is also antibacterial. This makes these towels very easy to clean and more hygienic. Bamboo towels tend to be slightly more absorbent than pure cotton, and bamboo is sustainable which makes the towel an eco-friendlier choice.
Polyester and cotton blends are popular and very affordable. These are arguably the most durable towels, but they’re not the best for delicate or sensitive skin. Towels containing polyester won’t be as soft as pure cotton, but they are perfect for the beach or swimming pool.
