Dulux Silk Emulsion Paint For Walls And Ceilings Review

Arguably the best-known paint brand in the UK, Dulux have been producing the best emulsion paints since the 1930s. We got our hands on a tin of their silk emulsion in Chic Shadow, a creamy shade of light grey, and were really pleased with the coverage and tone.

Dulux recommend applying two coats to cleaned flake-free walls and ceilings to achieve a smooth and slightly shiny finish that was touch dry in just three hours when we tested it. As expected, there’s a huge range of colours available, and if you can’t find one you love, they can colour match and mix most shades.

Johnstone's Wall & Ceiling Paint Matt Emulsion Review

Well respected amongst professional painter and decorators and canny DIYers as well, Johnstone’s have been around since 1890, and are a leading producer of some of the best washable paint for interior walls in the UK.

We were impressed with just how easy their matt emulsion goes on to walls with minimal preparation. Just make sure your walls and ceilings are clean of dust and dirt, key up any gloss surfaces, and paint on over it. The paint we tested is really thick, and sticks well to both brushes and rollers.

Leyland Trade 264796 Vinyl Matt Emulsion Review

Leyland Trade have a long history of excellence and are one of the first manufacturers to develop emulsion paints for home use. Their no-nonsense approach to wall coverings don’t mean that they compromise on making the best white emulsion for trade and public customers.

The monster tin of vinyl matt emulsion we looked at contains enough paint to cover 70 m², which should be enough for most rooms, no matter how big your house is. The vinyl matt goes on easily and is wipeable when dry as well.

Conclusion

When it came to reviewing five of the best emulsion paints available right now, we knew that it would be a hard choice to make. There are plenty of good paints around, but the Dulux silk emulsion range is an excellent one. The wide range of colours and the excellent coverage make it today’s winner.
