Microwave Turntable Buyer’s Guide
A turntable is a fairly integral part of your microwave, but too many don’t stand the test of time. Luckily, replacement turntables are very easy to find, and generally very affordable.
To ensure you buy the correct turntable for your microwave, check out this buyer’s guide.
Diameter
The diameter of the turntable is the most important factor, and this will depend on the size of your microwave. This size should be specified by your microwave manufacturer, and it usually ranges from 245mm up to 325mm. Ensure you purchase the right size turntable for your microwave.
Design
Most turntables will have a similar round design and glass construction, but what varies is the fitting. 3 small indentations that connect to the interior base of your microwave are most common, but you should check the fitting of your microwave before you purchase a new turntable.
Compatibility
What makes your turntable compatible with your microwave is the diameter and the fitting, so if these are both correct you should have no problems purchasing a turntable to suit any brand of microwave. You do not need to purchase a replacement turntable directly from your microwave manufacturer.
Durability
Durability is also important and will prevent you needing to replace the turntable again too soon. Look for a sturdy and robust glass turntable that’s both heat and light resistant.

How to fix a microwave turntable?
If your turntable isn’t rotating properly, there is often a simple explanation – so don’t buy a new microwave straight away!
First, unplug the microwave. Remove the glass turntable and guide, cleaning the plate in hot soapy water to get rid of any food spills. Make sure the rollers on the turntable guide are able to spin freely.
Clean the inside of your microwave, removing any food that could be causing the turntable to get stuck. Check that the drive bushing (the plastic device at the bottom) is in good condition and hasn’t worn out. If this has become worn you’ll need to get a replacement.
Put the turntable guide back into the microwave, fitting the turntable on top. Put a bowl of water into the microwave and check to see if the turntable is now working.
