Mop and Bucket Set Buyer’s Guide
Mopping floors is an arduous part of your cleaning routine, so the right equipment can make all the difference. A traditional mop and bucket set is cost effective, easy to use and generally very easy to store, plus there’s a range on the market to choose from.

Material
The majority of modern mop heads are made from microfibre, although other options are available. Microfibre mop heads are machine washable and hygienic, there’s no need for expensive cleaning fluid as they can remove bacteria using just water.
Cotton yarn mop heads are suitable for areas that don’t have a huge amount of dirt and grime, and instead need a once over. These are less durable than microfibre but can still absorb a large amount of dust and dirt.
Design
Mop and bucket sets come in a range of designs. Those with a spin feature make it easy to wring and rinse your mop, while some have 360-degree rotation which makes them easy to move around obstacles and into corners. Those with a pedal operated spin mechanism are very easy to use.
Cleaning Width
The cleaning width is important, as a mop that’s too large for the room will make it tricky to clean. Trying to clean a large room with a very small mop, however, will take a long time. If you have a large open kitchen, opt for the biggest cleaning width you can find. For bathrooms, a smaller disc shaped mop is a better option.
Handle
A comfortable handle is key if you’re going to be mopping for long periods of time. Look for a handle with a soft grip.
Telescopic handles ensure you can have the mop at the perfect length so you can clean comfortably. This also means the tallest and shortest members of the family won’t be able to get out of their cleaning duties! Look for a handle with a large extension range.
