Sandwich Toaster Buying Guide
Whether it’s for a lunchtime bite, or if you’re making breakfast for someone special, a sandwich press can be a real game changer. But what should you look for when buying one? Here’s a few tips:
Sandwich capacity
Sandwich presses with deep filling capabilities really do open up your options, it levels up your sandwiches from a tasty-toastie, to a delicious overstuffed hot meal. Also, look for presses with interchangeable plates, this will give you more choices and capacity.
Non-Stick
This is essential, unless you enjoy scraping off burnt cheese from your appliances. Look for the all important ‘non-stick’ mentioned, even better if your prospective sandwich press has a specialised coating like cerastone, as this is less likely to scratch off.
Dishwasher-safe removable plates
As with the non-stick factor, having removable plates and being dishwasher-safe takes out the worry when cleaning, just pop them out, load in the dishwasher and go about your day.
Ease of cleaning
This cannot be stated enough. It’s not just about cleaning the outside or plates of your sandwich press. Look for units that will wipe down easily and not leave behind crusty bits that will be smushed into the next sandwich. Sharp corners, hard to clean lips, and tricky crevices are all problem areas, try to avoid these.

How to use a sandwich toaster?
This couldn’t be easier. Preheat your sandwich press, place the first slice of bread into position, load your favourite toppings on that. When you’re satisfied with your creation place the second piece of bread on top, and close the lid.
There’s usually a latch that will click into place to help keep pressure on your sandwich so that it heats all the way through. After a few minutes, or if there’s an indicator light that goes on/off, your sandwich will be ready. Just lift the lid and with a wooden or plastic scraper lift the sandwich out.
Before you dive in, remember: the inside of your sandwich will be VERY hot, so be careful!
